******** Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at 7:00 pm ********

Player’s eligible to play for the 2020 Medicine Hat American Legion Baseball teams includes:

Players from our zone born in 01, 02, 03, 04 and 2005. The number of teams is dependent on the number, age and skill level of registered players. The plan for 2020 is to form 3 teams.

  • Team 1 – MH Moose Monarchs “AA” American Legion – Born Jan 1, 01 to Aug 31, 05
  • Team 2 – MH Knights “A” American Legion – Born Jan 1, 01 to Aug 31, 05
  • Team 3 – MHLL Senior LL in conjunction with American Legion – Born Sept 1, 03 to Aug 31, 05

The formation of all 3 teams will be completed through tryouts hosted by Medicine Hat American Legion Baseball in conjunction with Medicine Hat Little League.

Players can & usually play High School Baseball in the spring with no conflict; however it is not mandatory that a player has to play High School baseball in order to try out. Note: players born from Sept 1, 2005 and later are also age eligible for the local AAA Junior Little League All-Star program. American Legion does not ask players to leave the Junior Little League program however we do recruit all players older than Junior AAA All-star age. The American Legion Baseball program will affiliate some players from the Senior LL group. The Medicine Hat American Legion zone includes the area of surrounding communities from Foremost, Bow Island, Oyen, Fox Valley and Maple Creek etc.

Note LL and Legion boundaries do vary some.

Players must be dedicated to the baseball program during mid-May to early August. The off season has flexibility for other sports & interests; however expectations are that the player will participate as much as possible in the indoor training sessions and strength/training programs offered in the community.

It is Very Important that parents of players interested in trying out for the 2020 season attend so that everyone receives the same information and it will allow for the program to plan accordingly.

Players trying out for all 3 teams will be required to pay a non-refundable $75.00 Start-up/Tryout fee & a $225.00 deposit that is refundable, as follows, if the player is cut. If the players birthdate is earlier than Sept 1, 2003 the fee will be refunded to the family, if the player is born Sept 1, 2003 – Aug 31, 2005 the fee will be transferable to MHLL.

The total start-up/tryout/deposit fee of $300 is payable to MH Big League Baseball when the player registers.

Monarchs & Knights player fees for 2020 will be $1750.00 which includes the $300 paid at registration. The total player’s fee for team 3 will be the initial $300 fee paid at registration plus an amount that will be determined by the managers of Team 3 and Medicine Hat Little League.

Families may also attend the meeting for the purpose of learning about the program so that they may make an informed decision before registering.

Try outs, season start dates, coaching, events, executive, fundraising, and the workforce required to operate the program will be discussed as well as the 2019 financial statement. Info regarding what the player fee covers will also be discussed.

Winter indoor training will begin January 26th, all indoor dates as well as other player event information will be announced at this meeting. Priority for Indoor dates will be for registered American Legion baseball players, who have paid the deposit. Intermediate and Junior aged players for 2020 within our drawing area are also invited to attend. Players will be required to pay a per session fee for indoor sessions.

Players are welcome to attend however it is not mandatory. Parents can register players and sign the necessary documents. The players can then sign any necessary forms at the first function they attend i.e. indoor training/tryouts etc.
